Kayaking in The Keys
27 January 2014
Once the Polar Vortex had left, the sun came out again and we got back to doing outside stuff. We'd been looking forward to doing some kayaking in the mangroves and a nearby nature preserve was the perfect place to do that.
The kayaks were dropped off at our accommodation and we paddled over to the island. David and I were not as experienced paddlers as Chris and it took a bit of getting used to. David got a bit too close to some trees and, in turning away to avoid being hit by branches, managed to overturn his kayak and in he went! Not a promising start to the day but it was a great way to cool down.
Negotiating the trail map was a bit difficult as it wasn't always easy to see the channel entrance but we had a great day and lots of laughs. A very worthwhile activity when visiting this area.
