The crew
20 November 2011 | Las Palmas
We spent the day with last minute details. Crew of John and Peter Casson and Toby Waite arrived and were immediately put to work swabbing the decks (which was a huge project after all the new construction). Feels exactly like pre-race: everyone prepped and in high gear.
This is an iphone photo from dinner last night of tapas. Tia was a little nervous as we spent some time reviewing safety protocols for man overboard, fire and other unlikely circumstances.
I'll try to upload a couple more photos from the starting line. It sounds like it will be amazing: 250 boats, multihulls and open class go first so we will probably be able to see some crazy racing antics. Winds are supposed to be 15-18 knots from ENE so we should have some decent sailing (altho it is blowing 20 right now).
Thanks for the songs and the support. We are ready for game day.
ps for Deb and Karen: he does have a ponytail. He'll keep the pony and flip flops for the first day of work and then I promise he will look like a doctor again.
