Finally, we begin the adventures of a 2007, 44 foot Hunter Sailing Sloop that we named “Desert Vision”. We bought her in the fall of 2009 and sailed her to Portland Oregon from San Francisco. She was a three cabin boat and we immediately began a remodel into a two cabin with a spacious aft master. We have lived aboard her for two summers and enjoyed time in the San Juan’s and Gulf islands. We have devoted a “lion’s portion” of our spare time into learning all the onboard systems and outfitting her for a cruising retirement. That dream is finally about to become a reality in ten days.
No longer in our thirties, we first had to prepare Desert Vision for a degree of comfort in the tropics, including some play toys for the warm, clear water. But first, the long, rough trip back down the Columbia River and the Oregon coast to Desert Vision’s point of origin, San Francisco……..
