Along the East Coast of Australia
16 June 2008 | Cook Town
Windy, cool and rain!
The last two days we have been daysailig norh from Cairns to Cooktown in windy weather. Now in Cooktown it continues to be cool and rainy! Unusual for this area at this time of the year.
Cooktown is the place where James Cook repaired his ship Endeavor after he hit a reef! It is a miracle to me how he made it that far along the coast without incident. And that without charts, let alone computers, weather reports and GPS as we now have!
Tomorrow we will head further north to Lizard Is. and then Thursday Is. in the Torres Straits where we will leave Australia! Then throug the Arafura Sea to Indonesia where the weather is supposed to be warm and nice!!! I hope that from now on I will be able to update this blog via the radio and saimail. If not, you will next hear from me in a few weeks when we are in Indonesia.
