Greetings Friends!

We started this blog to entertain ourselves and our friends about our adventures on our sailboat, S/V Destination. We owned the boat for 12 years and during summer of 2022, we took a 10 week journey to Alaska, checking off an item on our bucketlist. Upon our return, we edited blog and with added photos, published it in book form. . It is available from blurb.com.

While the Alaska trip was terrific, we were reminded that with our ages were creeping up. It was time to lower our sails and graduate to a powerboat or let someone else do the driving. So, we sold the boat in the fall of 2023 and chose not to replace her.

Instead, we decided to utilize a substantial portion of the sale proceeds to check off another item on the bucket list - a trip to Antartica. Weather and seas there being what they are, we elected to travel on a much larger vessel, the M/S Fram, owned and operated by Hurtigruten Expeditions.

We will use this blog to document our journey to this amazing continent, starting with a week in Santiago, Chile, a flight from there to Punta Arenas in Patagonia where we will meet the ship on the Strait of Magellan. On board the ship, our three week journey will take us first east to the Falkland Islands, then south to South Georgia Island, and then on to the Antarctic peninsula.
