We arrived safely in Tasiilaq, East Greenland at 03:10 hours this morning, having motored through ice and fog into the harbour peninsula, using the radar with Janice and Dave on the bow looking out for ice bergs. On arrival we anchored next to two other boats we met while in Isafjordur (Celena and Imran). After crackers and tea we crashed out for a few hours. Tasiilaq is -2 hours on UK time. In the morning, the sun gradually burnt off the fog to reveal a fabulous location with large ice bergs aground in the harbour area. We went ashore to sort paperwork and to get a few supplies from the local supermarket. We were warmly welcomed by the local Inuit, such warm smiley faces. Getting to grips with the language is going to be challenging but we made a few tentatives steps today with the basic pleasantries. This afternoon we moved out of the harbour area to a quieter anchorage on the other side of the bay to have a walk ashore and to get a good nights sleep before leaving Tasiilaq tomorrow to start the journey South.
