Sunday 1 October dawned clear, sunny but cool. We took the opportunity to explore the mountains behind the boat, so a 1 minute dingy ride to shore and then we were on the hill. We had an excellent ascent, scrambling on fine rock. Janice couldn�'t keep a smile off her face and was heard to say �'I�'m just enjoying the dance�' while lightly placing her hands and feet on the rock. After several months of sailing, it was a real pleasure to be on rock. Our backs were gently warmed by the low sun from the South but once on the ridge we found a good layer of light, dry snow on the North side and in the valley below. We wandered along the ridge, following Arctic Hare and Fox tracks to a col (353m) and then descended this, checking it out for a potential ski descent later in the season. The views were spectacular with calm water out to sea. What better to top off a great afternoon scrambling �... tea and cake in the sun warmed cockpit back on Destiny.
