Destiny Gets To Stay The Winter In Greenland But The Crew …

Well Andy and I have flown out of Greenland having spent the last few days putting Destiny, our home, ashore in Sisimiut ship yard. We will be returning to her next year to continue our exploration of Greenland. We are gutted that we are unable to stay and enjoy the full winter with the Greenlandic people who have been most welcoming. We had started to make contacts to get involved with the local community, to learn the language and enjoy their national customs.
Being OCC (Ocean Cruising Club) members, we put a message on the ‘Crew Needed’ forum to say that we were available. Within a week we had 2 offers from other members on their planned trips. We have accepted our first offer and will be joining a 58’ motor boat from Monterey Bay, California travelling to the Pacific Islands via Honolulu. This will be very different ‘sailing’ for us and will give us an opportunity to see the Pacific as we are planning to transit the North West Passage next summer to put us on that side of America. We have a couple of weeks in the UK first but head off to the States end of November for our next adventure :-)
