Belated Update

Over a month since our last update...sorry. We left Key West on March 4th and cruised straight to Naples. We planned to be there until March 7th and go to Burnt Store in Charlotte Harbor. Unfortunately we ran onto a shoal exiting Naples Bay and had to turn back. We left DESTINY in Naples and drove [...]

Back to Sunny

Last several days have had foggy starts. Must be the cold snap lowered the water temperature, and now that warm moist air is back, we have fog. Looks like Maine in the morning.

Rainy Day

This looks like it will be the first full day during which we will not see the sun...not bad for 6 weeks, and good day to provide for start of Lent.

Pigeon Key visit

Took a ferry ride and visited Pigeon Key, the base construction camp for 400 workers during the construction of the railroad from Miami to Key West.

Keeping the blog up to date has been more than my tech skills can handle.
The trip has been a marvelous adventure.
Cheers.

Over a month since our last update...sorry. We left Key West on March 4th and cruised straight to Naples. We planned to be there until March 7th and go to Burnt Store in Charlotte Harbor. Unfortunately we ran onto a shoal exiting Naples Bay and had to turn back. We left DESTINY in Naples and drove to Captiva Island to meet Dolores and Alan there for a five day visit. We were most fortunate to have our close friends Stan and Liz Roy as residents of Estero, FL, about20 miles from Naples. They housed us and provided us with a vehicle, and that was a true blessing as there were no hotel rooms available that would allow dogs, and we had to have DESTINY hauled to enable repairs to shafts and props.
The whole incident worked out very well as we had a terrific time with Dolores and Alan and with Liz and Stan.
Once repaired, we took off on March 21st for Fort Myers and the start of a crossing of Lake Okeechobee Waterway on March 23rd. With one stop over at Roland Martin's Fish Camp in Clewiston, we arrived at Stuart on Tuesday, March 24th. We plan to drive to Raleigh, NC on Thursday to spend Easter with Toni and Bobby, and drive back to Stuart to start our return trip up the East Coast to CT...target June 1st.
Will try to do a better updating in the future.
