John and Shauna
We have been back in Port Moselle for four days now, and have noticed that there is an inescapable connection between days spent in a city marina and number of BUs (Boat Units, where 1BU =$1000 AUS) spent.
It has been nice however to catch up with our friends and to make some new ones. Kurt Carlos the Spaniard must consider us good guests since he asked us for another of his legendary Spanish feasts on "Nicole". Also present were Dick and Pril, veteran cruising sailors from the home-built, steel American boat "Awesome" , and Andrew and Marg fron "Mollycoddle". KC filled us to overflowing with great food and entertained us with his fiery and romantic Spanish music.
Then followed a day of boat jobs - attending to a small chafed area on the headsail, re-jigging the dinghy lifting davits, engine checks and so on.
Today we were driven to Mont Khogi by Rike the German fixit-and-arrange-it girl. We had a REALLY strenuous bushwalk up the Mont past two nice waterfalls and on to as close to the summit as one can get with relative ease - great views and great exercise to work off KCs Mallorcan fish dishes.
Tomorrow we are going to clear Customs and leave Saturday for the Loyalty Islands, North of the Southern tip of New Caledonia, then head up to Vanuatu. The weather forecasts and charts show some relatively light winds and low seas Sunday through to Wednesday here, so it looks like the right time to be off.
We'll let you know with text how we are going, and with some pics when we are back in Internet Land (?Loyalties ?Vanuatu - not sure).
Cheers to all!
