John and Shauna
While we have been hunkered down in Port Vila Harbour over this past week, we have been getting to know our yachtie neighbours and just relaxing. For once we aren't doing a lot of running around sightseeing and the like - just socialising and attending to minor boat jobs. Last night we went up to "La Casa", a local pizza and pasta joint for a cruisers' dinner. It was an all you can eat affair, with a starter of wine. There were about 50 of us there, from USA, Belgium, Germany, Britain, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands and more. It was a loud but very enjoyable evening, swapping stories with everyone and getting tips on local sights and events. It worked out at about $50 per couple which was great value.
Today we are hoping to go up to the Vila Hospital, courtesy of a Dutch-American couple who are on a yacht next to us on the seawall, who run the local arm of a US charitable foundation which sets up clinics in the out islands here.
As always, we will wait until the weather suits us before leaving, most likely next Monday or Tuesday. We'll be posting an entry before then.
