All fuelled up and ready to go

26 May 2009 | Coffs Harbour
John and Shauna
Tuesday May 26 - a week later than planned we will be leaving in the morning on the high tide (the marina entrance has shallowed with sand and silt deposition over the last week). Today we fuelled up and filled the water tanks, purchased our fresh vegetables and fruit, and checked everything that matters safety-wise.
On the marina, Sassoon hauled out for antifouling in the yard and repairs have started - big cranes lifting the breakwater blocks that moved, and hauling broken gangways and railings out of the water; this is going to be a very big job to restore the marina to full function - in fact it is an old and tired facility that is not up current space and service standards and really should be totally rebuilt.
We are so keen to get away - we have a forecast for very light weather for the first few days, but although that may make for slow progress that's no issue at all.
We are putting a few new pics in the Photo Gallery - this won't be possible again until we get to Noumea, although we will put up text posts via the HF radio.
The pic accompanying this entry shows the triple lines we had out during the worst of the weather.
Cheers to all!
