Today we left Turtle Bay for Bahia Santa Magenal. All 150 boats started together and it was an amazing sight seeing them all with thier colerful spinnikers flying at the same time. Traveling as a goup has it advantages. If you break down or need help someone is close. You meet some really nice people and you get to trade what you have and they want for what they have and you want. Yesterday we traded 10 gallons of water for two beers. We had the water and they had the beer. Traveling as a group at night is a different story. Tonight we have 7 boats with in 2 miles of us as we sail at about 6 knots wit the spinniker up.. Fortunately everyone is going more or less in the same direction. The radar helps but when you look our into the night you can see the lights of maybe 80 boats. So the watch tonight will be more important than ever. Nelda is sleeping as she is takeing midnight to three then I will be back for 3 to 6. Every morning we have a group check-in with the lead boat. One by one he goes though all the names and each boat reports its position. Today has been one of the best sailing days of the tri[p. We put the spinniker up right away and the wind has been a gental 10 to 12 knots all day and now that it is dark we are traveling 6 knots with the same wind conditions. That's good because we have 260 miles to go until our next stop and no one wants to be out two night on this leg. Today was fish day for the fleet. Lots of tuna and dorado were caught today.Today was the day we were wating for when the call went out for wessabi. Well we dont have any fish but we have 50 cans of dry wessabi and you can guess what we are trading for tomorrow. Neldas stratigy was no fish, no fish to clean and no fishs blood all over everything in the cockpit. Let the other guys catch them, clean them and then bring them to your boat to trade for wassabi. Brilliant!!! Unfortunatly there has not been moon light on the entire trip so it is O-dark 30 all night long. It is so dark your eyes hurt.t That's it for tonight as I am on watch and need to pay attention.
