Larry
We started the last leg of the Ha Ha to day at 7 am. Yesterday we had a beach party at Bahaina Santa Maria. The local folks brought in a band from La Paz and served a lunch of fresh fish and stewed shrimp. The shrimp were particularly good. The pangas were again our taxis for the day. They are friendly and it is an easy way to get around. Nelda and I originally wanted to take our dingy but after geting it ready to go we were pooped so we waved our arms and paid 2bucks each for a ride to the beech. While we were excited to leave the marina in San Diego due to all the lists and deadlines we were under we have found we simply traded one set of deadlines for another. The Baja Ha Ha is very demanding on a two person crew. A typical leg is to sail one, two or three days and nights and then have one day off. That day is usually spent sleeping if there are on two on board. The night watches ar brutal. Today is a good eaxample of the pressure of getting underway, making good speed and getting to Cabo. Leaving at 7am we need to average 5 knots to get to Cabo by dusk tomorrow. The harbor there is a little tricky so we want to get in duing the daylight hours. So all day we have been trimming the spinniker to maxamize our speed which is adveraging just barly 5 knots. The time presure makes for a difficult day. Combined that with Nelda and my lack of sleep and we have not been very nice to eachother today. We had a pariculary tense time during one of our sail changes about noon. All I can say is I hope that is as bad as it gets. Nelda and I have still not reached the point of staying in one place until we are tired of satying there. The boat is still disorganized and that adds to both our frustrations. We have had three stikes but no fish today which is to bad as we are at a point we will eat anything we catch of diner. Lunch was a superbly presented cup of Romin. Thats it for today, Larry
