A quite, but windy day

Larry
It was a quite day here in Bagia Agua Verde. The North wind that has been forcast for several days showed up last night. It is hard to sleep when the boat is being buffeted by the wind. All sorts of crazy thoughts go through you head and I was up and down a dozen times to see if we were holding anchor. We were and haven't moved in 24 hours so I shoud sleep better tonight. The photo today is of a catus we found that was flowering. It had about a dozen floweres just like this one. One day of this wind has brought the dust back again. On another subject, the local sheriff showed up on the beach today. Law enforcment in general is much different than in the states. We have seen one, US style police car with lights on it and that was at the front of a kids parade in La Paz. Here they dont need to call for back-up as the typical police veihical is a all terain vehical with a BIG macjhine gun mounted on it. We saw these in La Pz and Cabo as well. It is just how they do it. Today it was a crew cab fourwheel drive with 4 solders in the vehical and 4 more in the back. Everyone wears army issued camo clothing/bullit proof vests and they all carry machine guns. It seems to work as you would have to be crazy to mess with these people. They are a small army in a truck! I was able to talk to my freind Rich in Southern California today on the Single Side Band radio. That is a fancy term for a high frequency radio that can go along ways. We had a nice conversation. In the morings I listen to the AMEGO net. It is a loose group of cruisers that call in each moring at 7 am. They check on each other and see if anyone has any medical or mechanical emergencies and then give a weather forcast. It is also a place to make contact with other cruises we might have met and want to talk to later on the radio. Tonight the wind has gone down some but the swells from the big waves today are rolling the the boat. It's not bad, just different thatn what we are used to.
