We lost Bendgi today

Larry
Greetings from Chacala Today we have sad news to report. For the last three days we have been anchored in Chacala we have had a school of fish about 6 inches long swinning around Diamond Girl. They are there when we get up and they are there when we go to bed. Even though they all look alike we have taken to naming them. Today as we are having our moring coffee we are watching our little friends and suddenly there is a huge splash! Two feet away from us is a pelican and gulp, gulp, Bendji is toast. Well, that's natures way. The pelican sure had a smile on its face. Todays photo is of some of the archetecture in Chacala. We talked to a guy that has a house here and he told us the town started out as a fishing village. Over time it has become a day destination for people wanting to play in the ocean. Nelda and I can see why it is so popular. Now, some nice new buildings are being built. This is one of the newer structures. Many are painted bright yellow or orange or shades of red. Yesterday we shopped in a small teinda. Teindas are small food stores. This one had a small but nice selection of vegetables. Nelda bought some avacodos, bananas, potatos and onions. She also bought some tortia chips and a bag of ice. While there is nothing to compare these stores to in the States they are clean, the produce is fresh and the people are friendly. Everything you need. Today we are off on an adventure, our local dude told us about a beach about a mile away and around the corner from the anchorage. We are taking a lunch and are off to see if we can find it in the dingy.
