Hello Its been 4 full days since we shoved off from Mexico. Every day has been different. The first day was full of excitement. We were actually going. To be fair, some of us, me, were more excited than others, Nelda. The weather was good the first day and the wind as seas really kicked up the second day. The boat reminded you of one of those rooms at the fun house at the carnivl where all the rooms are tillted. It was a tough day of just falling into stuff because gravity was in the wrong place. We saw a few ships but none came close. The third day was really tough, as we had lots of wind but the sea didn't know what it wanted to do. FIrst big swells from one direction, then biger swells from another direction and the whole time, swells from both directions. It was like being in a washing machine. Last night was the first time we encountered any tradewinds. The wind blew steady out of the Northeast at 15 knots and the sea was gentle. It was really nice. Today is more of the same e xcept less wind. That's not a good thing as when we calculated how far we have come (we are almost to the third yellow dote in the pic) it looks like it will take another three weeks at this rate. It is hard to even imagine another three weeks without land at this point. You certainly don't want to say "are we there yet. The we are encouraged as some of the boats that left before us are starting to arrive in Hiva Oa. Every night we hear them say goodby to the radio net we all check in on as you don't check in once you arrive. Thopefully the blog sight has been updated and you can see this in the usual spot. A new feature lets you click on the Google Earth button and the blog will automaticly show you where we are on the map. Thats it from Diamond Girl.
