Note in a Bottle

30 April 2012 | 02 02'N:129 48'W, On the Equator
Larry
Greetings This is the last installment of the equatorial events. One of Nelda's other great ideas was to put a note in a bottle and see if someone found it someday. We had a nice bottle of wine for the first time since we started the trip and used the bottle for the note. I didn't get to see the note but believe it said "If you find this bottle please send AAA to 00.00, ask of Nelda." It is interesting that we were in the grip of the equatorial counter current at the time. All the currents arround us flow to the West as they are blown by the wind but right in the middle, at the equator, there is this huge river of water that flows East toward Central America. It is about 90 miles wide and is flowing at about 1.5 kts. So our message is probably not going to end up in Japan as it is more like to be found in Pannama. We did see our first ship in a while to day. It was a big fishing boat. We didn't get close enough to see the country of registry. It is nice to know civilaxation still exists.
