We're Back!

12 May 2012 | Taiohae Bay
Larry
Yes, Nelda and I are alive and well. Murphy got hold of our computer just as we made landfall and killed the blog an the N key on the computer will not work (when you come across a word you don't recognize, try adding an "n". I have to type the entire message and then go back and use the copy feature to paste in all the "n's".) It has taken three days to figure out how to post with out using the normal Sailblogs program and without using an "n" key. It is exceptionally beautiful here and not just because we have been at sea 29 days. The island is very rugged with high peaks and cliffs. The only colors are various shades of green surrounded in a sea of blue. Hopefully the photo I attached will come through. At first glance you can't image anyone living here. The you come upon Taiohae Bay and the town of Taiohae. The town ( pop 3,000) wraps around the entire end of the bay right at the base of high green cliffs. There are about 30 sailboats anchored in the bay. The cliffs are green because it rains here at least 4 times a day. Today we went to the public market. It starts at 5am but they do have fresh veggies if you get there early (5:05). The stores are very small and are like the corner grocery stores of old. We are moving to another bay on the island later today and will post a report from there. I will try and catch you up on some of the wonderful things we are experiencing here in French Polynesia.
