Yesterday we spent most of the day fishing. We sailed from Moorea back to Tahiti. Todays pic is of Lilly catching her first tuna. It weighted about 15 pounds. We finally found the secret to catching tuna and that is to follow the birds. We fished all day with different lurers and didn't have any luck. Then we saw a huge flock of birds diving into the ocean eating small fish. The tuna had the small fish in a bait ball and pushed up towards the surface and the tuna were eating them. The birds could see the small fish from the air and were also eating them.There were hundreds of birds. Life is tough when you're a small fish. We drove the boat right through the middle of this frenzy and instantly caught a tuna. About a half hour later we did the same thing and caught another. Now that we know the secret of how to catch tuna we need to discover the secret of finding groups of diving birds.
