I was on the night watch last night. You start at midnight and go to 4 AM. It's not really a bad shift, it is quiet and if there is a ship coming your way, it is easy to see as they will have their nav lights on. For the entire four hours, not one ship passed us. Ok so now I am bored. At least I had a book to read. Larry came up a couple of times to check things out and keep me company. We were sailing along at a brisk 6 -7 kits. in about 20 kits of wind The sea was lumpy and mixed so there was lots sideways motion. Mark came on watch at 4 AM and I went to bed. At about 6 AM I was wakened up by my fellow crewmen in great distress. Apparently there were lightening storms around us and it was time take down the sails and outrun the storm. Captain Larry applied his skill set and got us out of there in plenty of time. I really don't need more than 2 hours sleep. We are losing wind down the 126 highway so today we took a bering on Monterey Habour and are heading straight for it. W e plan to make landfall Saturday at about 2 PM. We will be well ahead of our schedule. k Today the seas are calm and there is now no wind. We did get an hour of sailing in after the lightening storm incident. I didn't get a shot of the lightening so today I am showing you a vessel that was on the hard in Port Angeles. Its a shame as it looked like it might have been a nice boat in her time. Perhaps a project for my friends at the Maritime Centre. The fog rolled in as we approached the California coast. We are about 70 miles off the coast traveling south. A large freighter just passed us in the fog. It's great having AIS as we can see the ship, her name, direction and speed. We just called her up on the radio and confirmed that she saw us and that we would passing with some distance in-between. We just had prawn appiys in garlic and butter with Dempsters eight minute bread - yum! Dinner tonight is Beef Burgoyne compliments of my sweetie. We were going to have a glass of wine but the box was int he freezer and it froze. Ok we are men and don't know this stuff.

Everyone is well on board. We are very surprised that we haven't seen any really heavy seas except for the first day. We would like some wind to sail! Maybe tomorrow. A little bird landed on the boat today and is still riding with us. I think it is just tired ndf perhaps lost. That's it for today folks. Thanks for visiting. Glenn
