Eleuthera
16 March 2015 | Governors Harbor
Moving north along the west coast of Eleuthera the weather has been very cooperative. At Tarpum Bay we walked along the shore and saw what looked like pools carved out of the rock. Very curious. We have been moving very slowly. We tried anchoring at a few places not really recommended on the charts and found out that finding good holding was difficult. We were looking for places where we could walk to the other side of the island along the ocean beach. With the help of Google Earth, Lois and Howard, on Chris-Pam-Mel, our buddy boat, discovered we could walk to Savannah Sound from Ten Bay. Ten Bay has a beautiful sandy public beach where we sat out very comfortably some stronger ESE winds. On our beach walk we found a couple of interesting things, a small Japanese glass float and the bottom of a hand blown glass jug with an interesting fish hook design on the bottom. Each day we have moved just a few miles north along the Eleuthera west coast. Today we are at Governor's Harbour along with a few other boats. We will get the laundry done and walk the pink beach along the east coast. It has been a relaxing and casual last few weeks.
Just a housekeeping note, we will be joining the 21st Century (slowly, and kicking all the way), and begin having our Sailblog entries posted to our Facebook page.
