2017-2018 2

We stayed at Great Harbour Marina three days and left a little uncertain if Nancy had a broken foot or not. After seeing the doctor to see if he agreed that she should travel we got underway, having been given a clean bill of health. We anchored that night on the Banks near Northwest Channel with no land in sight. We became a little worried when her foot swelled up more that it had been. Mostly the worry was with the bruising in her foot should there be a chance of a blood clot. We could not help having second thoughts about being alone out there. She continued to elevate her foot, use ibuprofen, and ice when available. The foot was looking better.
In the morning we got an early start and had a good sail almost all the way to New Providence (Nassau). On the way we fished and caught nothing but did see some whales or more correctly their water being spouted. They were maybe a quarter mile away but the water came up so high it was easy to see. We anchored at West Bay. Anxious to keep going we left the next day and continued on to the Exumas. The weather had been exceptional and on our way we were able to meet up with some of our cruising friends we promised we would meet when we got here.
We enjoyed Christmas dinner at Lorraine's Cafe in Black Point, with several other cruisers, and from there we took it easy until we meet up with our friend Bonnie at George Town on January 26. One thing that is always problematic in the Bahamas is keeping in contact with family and friends through the use of the internet. At Black Point it is possible to have good connectivity so that we were able to Skype with our sons for the Holidays!
