Most of the time Diesel Duck is swinging under anchor, so there is no need for a lot of fenders hanging over the side. In order not to clutter up the topside of the boat, we deflate our fenders and store them below. But even when deflated, they take up considerable cabinet space and when we do need the fenders, the pump up process (even with an electric pump) takes about half an hour and the deflating process for a set of four a whopping hour and a half.
Yesterday we treated ourselves to new inflatable/deflatable StowAway fenders that came with a free hand pump. It took about 2 minutes to inflate one of these with the hand pump and to deflate you just undo the screw and roll up the fender. There is now a lot of free space in the locker!!
