Without access to a car the shopping takes longer than you realise, especially if there are no shops within walking distance. Our investment in two shopping trolleys has paid off as we are able to walk a couple of miles to the shops and return without feeling that our arms are about to drop off.

The provisioning of food is now considered as a 'day trip'. It takes a number of hours to walk or bus to the shops, purchase food, return back to the boat and store everything. Given that it takes a day we find it most effective to shop every 10-14 days rather than more regular trips.
