Concarneau to Ile de Groix Log
Hurray - summers arrived!
Suns out, it's warm and a gentle sea breeze allowed us to sail the 25 miles under spinnaker at 4.7 knots to Ile de Groix - This is what we like :-).
Three hours into our journey we were able to see Ile de Groix through the sea haze. Even spotted a sunfish on the surface of the sea.
Arrived at Port Tudy late afternoon taking one of the many fore and aft moorings in the outer harbour (cheaper, cooler and generally more pleasant). Upon arrival, a frenchman on the yacht opposite asked us where our Breton flag was. Once we explained that we didn't possess one, he kindly offered his. Not wanting to 'just take' from him, we exchanged two cans of Guinness (our last cans from the UK :-( ). Bruce then paddled over to the Frenchman's yacht to collect the flag and spent the next 5 minutes trying to explain that we weren't Irish and that's all we could think of given that we don't have any courtesy flags to swap! He returned sometime later after stopping for a glass or two of wine and a chat.
So we are now proud owner's of a Breton flag.
Total distance this season: 343.17 nautical miles
