The adventures of Yacht Flirtie

"Hi, we are sailing yacht Flirtie's crew, Bruce and Caroline. Welcome to our blog.

Ibiza, Cala Yondal to Cala Llonga (anchorage) Log

We're thoroughly enjoying the mid-morning departures now that we're cala hopping but clearly the wind and swell dictates where you go next, which no doubt is something that we're going to have to get used to.

The wind has predicted a change to the south, our cue to move to another anchorage. This time to Cala Longa on the south-eastern side of the island.

We initially motored but after passing through "Freu Grande" (the main passage between Ibiza and Isla Espalmador) a gentle wind arrived which allowed us to unfurl the genoa, pole it out and actually sail all the way to Cala Llonga. The wooden spoon worked well.

wooden spoon doing its job nicely!

The cala entrance was difficult to spot until almost due east of the cala, when huge blocks of flats and buildings lining the wooded cliffs came into view. Although it appeared to be very narrow we anchored in sand about halfway up keeping clear of the swimming buoys off the beach.

Total distance this season: 645.51 nautical miles
