Today we both received our 2nd Pfizer vaccination..... just three weeks after our 1st!
Despite what the UK papers suggest, in our opinion the rollout of the vaccine program here in Italy is progressing well. Similar to the UK, the program started with the most vulnerable and those deemed to be at risk before progressing down the age bands. Three weeks ago it was available for 50 to 60 year olds and from early June here in Sicily it will be open to anyone over the age of 16.
Unfortunately the vaccine wasn't available in our small seaside town of Marina di Ragusa, but instead we had to travel 25km or so inland to the main town of Ragusa. Typically we would have travelled to Ragusa by bus but on the last two occasions we have shared the cost of a rental car with our friends Vic and Clare https://www.sailblogs.com/member/vicandclare
from sailing yacht Njord. Thanks again Clare for being our chauffer today.... and in particular for dropping everything at short notice when we found out that the 2nd vaccine was being administered at a completely different location to the 1st!
waiting for our numbers to be called - 338 & 339
Following our jabs, what better way to celebrate the occasion than a lunch time meal sat in the piazza - just fabulous!
For anyone that is interested, the restaurant was "La Taverna Del Lupo (The Wolf Tavern
and we can highly recommend it.
