Relieved to be back on our way

Well as we said thank god it only takes money to fix this great ole boat!
We cannot thank Lynn, Mike and especially Devon of Cabo Yacht Center enough for hauling us within 15 minutes of our request this past monday.
We were in and out of the yard early Friday with out any lay days!
What an adventure to stay aboard in the middle of the yard, in the middle of the Cabo’s craziest time of year (well at least for us)- Spring Break.
After 2 trips to La Paz to the fantastic Lopez Marine Group, we were able to procure 2 Cutless bearings (of course a rare size), weights for my scuba, a new windlass switch so we can say goodbye to the green alligator clips and the second time around - 2 new motor mounts.
With these adventures, we were able to seee the inland beauty of the countryside, scout marinas and get a slip reserved, get invited to the upcoming Cruceros bash , assist in auto accident that closed hwy 19 -10 cars ahead of us and visit the lovely town of Todos Santos along the way-
We hope to see downtown San Jose del cabo today- repair windlass tomorrow , swithc bag to our smaller stiffer head sail and head around the cape on Monday- yes Peter H, looks like it may be a calm bash!!!

Headed to Mexico FINALLY!

They day has come, we left under nice winds and calm seas with our friend Rick Bender.
We watched the green flash of a spectacular sunset and were stewarded by a 3/4 full moon rise , arriving @ our slip at Baja Naval, Ensendads, Baja California MX @ ~0630 after sunrise. 15hour seamless passage of motor sailing primarily. Too excited to sleep, coffee, check in to customs, port captain seamlessly and professionally with the help of Baja Navals Dock master Victor. Muchos Gracias!

Oceanside to San Diego

Left the kind hospitality of Oceanside Yacht Club 0620, motor sail as had 1.5 Kn of current we were fighting. Treated to glassy seas around La Jolla, which helped us dodge the crab pots around Point Loma. Very visible change in active military presence as we gave way to multiple war ships, squealing when the jets took of in rapid succession from Coronado Island and torturing to correctly identify everything military vessel winged or not we spotted.
Arrival simple side tie to Silver Gate Yacht Club x few nights, thank you Baron for the facilitation on a busy Hot Rum regatta weekend where clubs were full and space limited. Definitely starting to feel the Christmas spirit as I wandered through this beautiful club counting no less than 10 fully decorated amazing Christmas trees.
Happy Holidays and welcome to San Diego!

To all following very slowly, we are still in SAN PEDRO having decided to summer here whilst finishing up details in the Bay Area. At laws this way we can visit the boat and enjoy all the comraderie that Long Beach basin has to offer with new friends and family. All in all its been the right choice for us. We will head south at the end of the summer. Stay tuned!

San Pedro

25 January 2019
We had a lovely sail from Marina Del Rey 2 days ago after the rain cleared and super Santa Ana’s passed , arriving in style to LAYC.
We moved to Cabrillo Way Marina after a tedious “inspection” process and have decided to spend the weekend. We spent the whole day at the Queen Mary-I’m sure I’ll have some grand dreams tonight! tomorrow we’ll probably do another motor harbor tour of this huge place and dock next to Rapid Transit in front of the very friendly Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club - so stay tuned for more

Well, what’s happened... a lot ..
Mark took a day trip from the Bay Area to splash the boat after we returned from Maui for Bday all the while I was able to volunteer for the Camp Fire in Butte County.
This was clearly one of the most difficult yet most rewarding professional experience of my life. I was tasked with clean up basically. Cleaning up a poorly run animal shelter within a Red Cross shelter that housed fire victims with a healthy dose of pre fire homeless peeps and their pets. Couldn’t have done it without the support of Erin Pina,

Wow, so very lucky to be able to spend our Christmas helping others, so back to the boat in Channel Islands harbor under the watchful eye of Channel Islands yacht Club and Bro Derek!
We’ll miss this place , the rudder room, Captain Lee, Bill Brewer, the lovely generosity of the Leaven family. Cruising to be continued as we left the harbor 1/12/19 for Marina Del ray as soon as the rain cleared!
