Getting ready to go

After a short trip back to California, we returned to the boat to start our preparations for sailing to the BVI's. Thinbgs were going well until Hurricane Sandy showed up and we had to strip Dragon's Toy of all her canvas and sails. We made some great new friends when Dan andn Jackie on s/v Chill invited us to stay with them while the hurricane blew through. It was a good thing to as the temperatures dropped into the low forties at night. We just are not set up for that kind of cold.
After Sandy passed, we had to put everything back together again and move from Yorktown down to Hampton to meet up with the other cruisers that are going on the rally to the BVI's with us. We were hustling to get everything finished before we left when another storm formed just off the Chesapeake and we ended up sitting in port for another few days. In the mean time, our crew Richard joined us and we have managed to get just about all the way through the to-do list. A few more last minute things and we will be off in the morning. We can hardly wait as it never warmed up much after Sandy came through. Todays high was still in the low fifties. We need some warm.
One of the things we put on the boat is a Pactor modem so we can now send short emails while at sea. I will try to keep the blog updated as we sail south with our position and current status.
