Catching dinner
After spending an evening at a mooring in Provincetown, we moved on to anchor for a couple days behind Long Pt. It was a pretty sweet spot just off a sandy beach in about 35?? of water. The winds were expected to pick up to 25-30 K while a low moved through and was expected to last a couple of days. So we stay put and spent a great deal of time exploring the beach and dunes. DJ and Nicole were able to harvest some crabs, which Lisa and Nicole spent a great deal of time getting what little meat there was in them to make crab cakes. The water temperature was a big surprise with temps ranging from 73 degrees with the tide going out and dropping to 61 when coming in. Of course, I preferred the higher temps. Tomorrow we plan on moving over to Wellfleet and then on through the Cape Cod Canal the next day depending on weather conditions. The kids were enjoying some snorkeling today by the drop off where there were plenty of strippers swimming when a very large seal surprised them. Nicole screamed bear and ran out of the water as fast as she could. DJ on the other hand thought it was a shark.
