For the past few months, we have only seen recreational boaters. We were wondering when we would begin to see more cruisers. Once we hit Cape May, NJ, it seemed that every boat in the anchorage was heading south for the winter. There were a lot of Canadian flags being flown. They come down through the Hudson River after making their way through the Great Lakes and the lock system. The kids have met some children living on their boat too. We hope to meet up with them again in Maryland at the boat show.

Saturday morning we left our anchorage at 2 a.m. It was the closest I've come to a night crossing. It was pretty rough as we rounded Cape May into the Delaware Bay. All of us were seasick. As soon as we hit the Bay, things calmed down a bit and the crew crashed while Dave strategically avoided many large ships and barges. After sailing 12 hours, we stopped in the C&D Canal and dropped anchor in Chesapeake City. We recognized several of the boats as ones we saw in Cape May. DJ and Nicole were playing with a group of kids on shore while we visited with their parents. They told us of a small anchorage where we could have a fire on the beach. Then they came by with the fixings for S'mores. The folks down here are so kind! Thank you Sarah, Kelley and Beth!
