Trick or Treat

We spent a wonderful ten days in Beaufort. We really enjoyed ourselves in that town. On Halloween, we invited all of the cruisers with kids to meet up at our boat before we all enjoyed Trick or Treating together. We enjoyed hot apple cider, donuts and apples. There were 12 kids in all, 11 of them girls. We keep asking ourselves, where are all the boys?? Beaufort really gets into Halloween, especially on Ann Street. Many of the homes went all out and the adults enjoyed the holiday as much as the kids. Two of the children from England have never celebrated Halloween. It took them one house to get the hang of it. Then they were off with the pack begging for sweets.
While in Beaufort, we were entertained by the wild ponies and dolphins that would appear on either side of our boat. The occasional pelican would fly overhead. It is now that we really feel we have traveled far from home.
As we departed from Beaufort we had to say our good-byes to our great friends from Pie Square, who's company we have enjoyed since we first met them at Cape May. Their cruising plans are to go to the BVI's while ours are to head south to the Bahamas. It is tough saying good-bye when you probably won't see each other again. I guess that is a part of the cruising life you never get use to.
