Enchanted

11 May 2011
John
Saturday May 7, 2011
We are up anchor at 06:00 and headed for Willard Bay. The day starts out benign but as we near the Enchanted Islands the winds and waves increase significantly. We head closer to the shore hoping for some relief in the lee of the land but no such luck. Winds peak at 30 and we have a tough 2 or 3 hours. As the afternoon begins the winds diminish a bit and turn in our favor. We put up the sails and finally turn off the motor. There are several whale blows and we see three of four breaches in the distance. We have a very pleasant sail until the winds die about an hour out of Willard. As we turn into the bay the winds build to 20 again and we drop the hook in front of Papa Fernandez. The winds are steady at 20 to 25 all night.
