Mutton Fish Bay to Hatchett Bay, Bahamas
20 March 2011
When we woke up in the morning we were surprised to see a Magnum 60 go fast boat moored to our south! We have since been told that it was Lenny Kravitz’s (the recording artist who grew up in nearby Gregory town) boat, and that he owns the beach front property in front of it where he has parked an Airstream trailer. We dinked over to the Glass Window “(a bridged breach at the island’s narrowest part) – this is the most distinctive geological feature in North Eleuthera. From sea, the Glass Window forms a kaleidoscopic peephole to look from bank to ocean, or vice versa. The limestone cliffs set against the periwinkle ocean on one side and the aqua bank on the other create a stunning view from all angles.” This pic of the Glass Window is the bank side – shallow, calm. After our shore excursion we weighed anchor and set sail for Hatchett Bay (town sign reports this as the safest harbor in the country – this reputation took a beating with Hurricane Andrew when many boats anchored here were lost), only one and a half hours away.
