Black Point to Jacks Bay Cove
11 April 2011
We had an easy jib sail over to Jack's Bay Cove with Joanne and Richard ahead of us. They joined us for lunch on DreamCatcher, then we all headed over to the beach with our snorkel gear and for conch cleaning lessons. Bruce brought the three conchs he had from Norman's Cay and showed us where to cut the shell and how to severe the muscle so the conch will come out easily (YUK). Bruce also instructed us on how to eat the conch spine (double YUK) - a Bahamian aphrodisiac (or so they say!). Surprisingly there were no takers, so Bruce ate them all. In 1997 his 10 year old daughter ate one to impress her 10 year old male friend - the last piece of seafood she has ever eaten!
