Little Farmers Cay to George Town
13 April 2011
Late getting away, waiting for a rain squall and trouble shooting a malfunctioning chartplotter. Motorsailed seven hours to arrive in George Town at 4:30 pm. We anchored and immediately went ashore to get to the grocery before it closed at 6:00 pm. Bought salad fixings (no scurvy for us!), and miscellaneous other items (hit the first ATM since Nassau) paying by cash to avoid the 5% credit card fee. During a delightful half hour boat washing squall we enjoyed a big salad and blue cheese burgers at anchor – it’s the small things in life! George Town is now down to approx. 100 cruising boats, from 400 during the winter season. These numbers should increase in the next couple of weeks for the Bahamian Family Regatta, which showcases Bahamian sloops sailed by the native Bahamians.
