After listening to the morning cruisers net at 8:00 am, we headed across the bay to visit the market, drop off trash and fill up our three gallon water tank at the dingy dock. Yesterday we had seen the supply ship unloading, so we wanted to get to the store early to stock up on fresh veggies and fruits. We weren’t disappointed – the produce isle was full! I bought zucchini for bread baking – I’ve been wanting to try a new recipe, will update you on my galley adventures later. Bruce bought a huge stalk of locally grown celery, as well as tomatoes, peppers, papaya and a hard squash. The locally grown items do not last as long, but are much more flavorful. Unfortunately, Bahamian raised chickens have become rare – we are still buying US grown chicken (with their abundant fat and subsequent bonfires on the grill).
