After breakfast we pulled up anchor and headed across the harbor to the Exuma Marina to fill the water tank (.20/gallon). We re-anchored off of Monument Beach, but not till we had some anchoring FUN! When we (read Gina) brought the anchor up to go across the harbor, the anchor had twisted up on the bow roller. We didn’t think much of it – thought it would just drop off when we hit the windlass – but no, it was jammed up under the bow seat! Bruce could not get it unjammed, so while I was motoring the boat back and forth behind the anchored boats, Bruce dropped the dinghy into the water and pulled himself up to the bow to try to get it undone from there. After much effort and unbolting the bail, the anchor finally fell into the water, but it also took the bail with it! When I saw the bail go overboard, I hit the MOB (man overboard) button on the chartplotter to mark the spot. Sooooo, then he retied the dink on the stern of the boat, climbed onto DreamCatcher, put his swim trunks on, grabbed his snorkeling gear and back into the dink he went. I navigated back to the MOB (which was really bail overboard) and he went snorkeling looking for it. Remember – this all while I am driving the boat back and forth behind everyone (and giving them some laughs I’m sure!). We were out there so long we even had a nice man dink out to us to offer help! No success – the bail is now part of Elizabeth Harbor. Sometimes I think I am married to a cross between Crocodile Dundee and McGwyver! Although Bruce didn’t find the bail, he is my hero!!
