Soldier Cay to Decca Channel West

09 May 2011
Started the morning by an early snorkel in the Sea – Aquarium – tied to the dinghy mooring and snorkeled a beautiful wall (shallow) seeing lots of colorful fish and coral. Dinked a quarter mile to the sunken plane and Bruce snorkeled – I took this pic from the dink – that’s how clear it is!! We headed back out to make our way to Fresh Creek, on Andros Island. No wind, motored seven hours in less than three knots with mirror calm seas. Anchored on the Great Bahama Bank approximately three miles from the Tongue of the Ocean in 26’ of crystal clear water with no land in sight. Trivia question: Anybody know where the name Decca comes from?? (Devin??) Tomorrow we will continue on across the Tongue of the Ocean (hopefully under sail). Tonight we are enjoying this peaceful anchorage (wind has dropped to zero) and looking forward to moonlight across the sea. No land. No wind. No waves. No sound. No lights. Just us and God. Thank you Lord.
