Elbow Cay to Little Harbour
18 February 2012
We left at 7:00 am to get through a shallow area and arrived in the Pelican Land & Sea Park around 9:00 am for some snorkeling. We then picked up anchor and headed to Little Harbour, anchoring again to wait for the next high tide to get into the harbor. We dinked in to check out the channel into the small harbor, and found plenty of space to drop the hook in between the moorings later in the afternoon (we prefer to spend mooring $ on drinks and food!). Little Harbour is the beautiful island getaway that sculptor/artist Randolph Johnston and his family selected in the 1950’s to make their home and establish a foundry where bronze castings are still produced (Lindsay is bringing me Johnston’s book “Artist on His Island, A Study in Self Reliance”). There is a beautiful art gallery and outdoor pavilion restaurant and bar, Pete’s Pub, where all visiting yachtsmen and locals gather. We enjoyed meeting some of our neighbors from the anchorage, Phil and Jen (s/v Pelagia) and Bob and Brenda (s/v Meander) while having drinks and dinner at the pub.
