Lisbon Creek, South Bight
24 March 2012
After a sleepless night, at high tide we were able to power off in reverse with the assistance of Norman (thank you!!) driving his boat in circles around us to make big wakes to rock us off. All was well until the rudder was slammed over and the wheel was stuck to port! We quickly dropped anchor (6.5’ water) and began troubleshooting the problem. One hour later the lockers were unloaded, and the autopilot was disconnected allowing us to reposition the rudder inside the rudder stops. We motored off with a couple of inches under the keel to deeper water and dropped two anchors – we had lunch and took a well deserved nap!
