La Libertad, Ecuador to Golfito, Costa Rica
26 January 2016
January 20 – 26, 2016 We had a wonderful six day full moon passage with gentle winds and two short squalls – Bruce cooked and I was able to make yogurt along the way! The first few nights were spent dodging fishing nets/long lines up to 50 miles offshore (marked with black flags, sometimes a flashing light and a sleeping “marinero” in a panga on one end!). Surprisingly little ship traffic – only three ships were picked up on AIS. We watched message two in the sermon series “What is Christian?” by Andy Stanley – we were called to be “disciples”, not Christians. Are we following Jesus? We anchored nine miles outside of Golfito upon arrival, spent the night and motored in the next day. While underway we threw a message in a bottle overboard – hope to hear from someone from a faraway land someday.
Definition of disciple: One who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another; a personal follower of Jesus.
