September 4 – 9, 2016 We took a Chiles & Chocolate cooking class to learn to make mole (mole is a generic name for Mexican sauces) – we made two kinds, yellow and black (chocolate) served with rice, chicken and tortillas. Jane (a Canadian) has lived here for 20 years, owns the restaurant and runs this fun cooking school. We hosted a potluck evening aboard DreamCatcher with Gerry and Chris (m/v Misty Michael) and Rick and Beth (s/v Stingray) – Bruce made his wonderful curry coconut chicken – yum! Also spent an afternoon exploring the nearby coves and the cruise ship harbor of Santa Cruz in the dink – such a beautiful, rugged coastline! In the last couple of weeks we have continued watching the sermon series “What Makes you Happy” with Andy Stanley. “Peace with God” and “Happy Money” had much wisdom - giving = joy, saving = peace, living = freedom - these are wise ways to manage your finances.
1 Timothy 6:17-19 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
