Isla Ixtapa
14 January 2017
January 10 – 14, 2017 Very relaxing time spent on this island – Isla Ixtapa has no permanent residents. Palapa restaurants are open from 10-5 each day with lots of pangas delivering locals for day trips to eat, swim and snorkel. We went over each evening to the Paraiso Restaurant with the other cruisers - the awesome restaurant owner Juan entertained us with island stories and tequila shots till long after normal closing! One evening he served large platters of freshly caught yellow fin tuna sashimi for everyone and the next night some cruisers gave him a large arrachera (marinated flank steak) and he grilled it for everyone along with tortillas and guacamole – YUM! Juan has been coming to this island since 1959 (he was 4 years old) and continues to enjoy sharing his beautiful island life with others. We are sad to report that Big Dog was overserved his first night of the festivities (along with everyone else – except me of course!! Go limonadas!) – he learned quicker than the others that it’s safer to be the first to leave (and much healthier!!).
