Copper Canyon – Batopilas
26 May 2018
May 25 - 26, 2018 We drove into the bottom of the canyon today to the old silver mining town of Batopilas. Batopilas (pop. 1,200) is situated beside the Rio Batopilas and was a prominent silver mining center from the early 18th to early 20th century. Further down the canyon from Batopilas the “lost” cathedral of Satevo was built in the 1600’s and is still used for services today. Muy viejo!
