La Paz

10 March 2018
Happy birthday to the dog of my dreams!! Love you with all my heart.

Bahia Falsa to La Paz

04 March 2018
We finally made it! We made the five mile motor into La Paz, stopping at the fuel dock (squeezing in between Steven Spielberg’s mega yacht and Apple’s ultramodern yacht “Venus”) for fuel and to check in to CostaBaja marina. Looking forward to a big cruising community and grocery stores. We are on the fourth lesson in Andy Stanley’s series “Right in the Eye” – the opening question was “What do you do when your body wants what your heart knows is wrong?” – it could be something or someone. The Lord loves you and has something better for you.
1Cor 6:19-20 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.

Ensenada Los Muertos to Bahia Falsa

03 March 2018
Anchors up at 5:30 am to make the 28 mile passage through the Cerralvo channel. We had been warned that this channel could be very crazy with north wind and opposing tides – but we were blessed with a good forecast and an easy motor through with a spectacular sunrise!

Los Frailes to Ensenada Los Muertos

02 March 2018
February 27 – March 2, 2018 We motor sailed 46 miles in light conditions to Los Muertos (Cove of the Dead – aka Bay of Dreams – much easier to sell real estate with a nice name) – a good thing since the wind was on the nose. We’ve enjoyed our time here meeting new friends Nan and Duey (s/v Flight) and Greg and Dianne (s/v Alma). There is a wonderful restaurant on shore with wifi (yay!) so we all gathered at lunchtimes getting acquainted and using the internet.

Los Frailes

26 February 2018
February 22 – 26, 2018 What a lovely anchorage! We have enjoyed this secluded anchorage which only has a few fishing tents/huts and a couple of houses lining the shore. The mountains are a beautiful backdrop for the white sand beach and turquoise water. We kayaked out to the snorkeling area and made our first shore entry in them – we definitely need practice with the surf!! We made a clumsy landing but scored a 10 on our exit – we’re still cleaning the sand out of them. Sigh.

Mazatlan to Los Frailes (Baja side of Mexico)

21 February 2018
February 19 - 21, 2018 Off we go to the Baja side of Mexico! We motored the first four hours of our passage, but were able to sail the rest of the way on this two day, 166 mile passage. Winds were 22-26 for only a couple of hours, with the remainder 4-14. We under canvased most of it for peaceful, slow sailing to arrive at daylight. Spotted five humpback whales in route with this one greeting us as we entered the bay!

14 February 2018
Happy Valentines Day!! We shared this special day with sweet friends Lisa and Jon (s/v Molly J)-(thank you Jon for the roses!) and Dave and Marisa (s/v Dos Pacificos) at Panchos – so thankful!!

11 February 2018
Carnaval has arrived! This event began in 1898 with today’s main events consisting of parades, street parties, food festivals and a selection for the “royal” court and concerts. This year’s theme was “Patasalada” (salty feet – the locals have one foot on land and one in the sea) with approximately 60,000 people attending (primarily Mexicans), making people watching great fun! We walked the entire malecon (the parade route) with cruising friends Dave and Marisa (s/v Dos Pacificos) and Phyllis and Scott (s/v Glory Days).

03 February 2018
YAY!! I surprised Bruce and bought two used Dahon folding bikes (we owned four previously, but sold/bartered them as we were not in good places to use them) from nearby cruisers. They are in great shape (new rims and tires) – AND I looked up the serial numbers on Dahon’s website – they are vintage 1989!!! 29 years old! Can you believe it??? Bruce is looking for antique plates, now to purpleize one of them………

24 January 2018
Fun evening aboard DreamCatcher for sundowners and dinner at El Mercadito across the street from Marina El Cid. We were joined by friends Gena and Pablo (s/v Scarlet Fever), Jeanette (s/v Marsha Dee), Gerry (m/v Misty Michael), Jon and Lisa (s/v Molly J) and Dave and Marisa (s/v Dos Pacificos). We are blessed!

1 John 4:10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
