Bahia San Carlos to San Evaristo
29 April 2018
We had our third coromuel last night and it was still blowing this morning when we left the anchorage at 7:30 am. We jib sailed early on at 5.5 – 8.2 knots – slowly the wind died and after 22 miles we had to turn the engine on to slog into the waves/wind for our arrival into San Evaristo. We were disappointed to find Lupe’s restaurant closed – leftover burger and scallops for dinner tonight!
Punta San Telmo to Bahia San Carlos

Five mile motor to this beautiful anchorage. With the breathtaking backdrop of the Sierra de la Giganta range and miles of sand beach, Bahia San Carlos is a welcome stop on the Baja coast. I kayaked the entire coastline and was amazed at the color and topography of the shoreline – just gorgeous!
Bahia Santa Marte to Punta San Telmo
27 April 2018
12 mile motor today. On our way to Punta San Telmo we were escorted by three whales – they swam parallel to us for almost an hour! Tried our best to get breaching photos, but no success. Can you see the tail in the photo?

I spotted a rare Golfo de California dog fish snorkeling under my kayak!! Took photo through the kayak window. Think I’ll keep him.
Puerto Escondido to Bahia Santa Marte

We made a 31 mile motor today with the company of two huge dolphin pods and a whale! The great silver hunter scores!!! Bruce went snorkeling upon arrival to clean the bottom (day one of what is now a three day process for the old dog – he definitely prefers to pay someone $40 to do it!) and hunt for scallops (see the tiny lobster in his palm – it was living in the scallop) and I kayaked the coastline. Gorgeous!

Gentlemen start your engines!!! Today we rented a car with Kitty and Joe (s/v Telitha) and Rick (s/v Windward Passage) to go to Loreto and watch the start of the Loreto to La Paz leg of the NORRA Mexican 1000 Rally and run errands. The race starts in Ensenada and ends in Cabo San Lucas. Of the 245 entrants, 141 finished. Tough way to see Baja Mexico!
Isla Coronados to Puerto Escondido
23 April 2018
We’re back!! We decided to start heading back to La Paz with our first stop in Puerto Escondido for the usual wifi, laundry and restaurant fix. We were blessed to see Kitty and Joe (s/v Telitha) again – yay!
Ballandra to Isla Coronados
22 April 2018
April 21 - 22, 2018 Eight mile motor. We love short passages! Gorgeous evening aboard DreamCatcher having dinner with Alex (s/v AlexAnne) with the Lord providing the beautiful view. We have started a new sermon series with Andy Stanley – “Follow”. The invitation to follow Jesus is an invitation to relationship. Am I following?
Matthew 9:13 But go and learn what this means: “I desire mercy, not sacrifice. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Puerto Escondido to Ballandra

April 18 - 20, 2018 The great silver hunter is back out again! This time he has a fishing rod holder on his kayak and is stalking poor unsuspecting fish – sad to say none were caught, but kayaking was still fun. We also enjoyed sundowners aboard s/v Avalon with Karen and Rick and Alex (s/v AlexAnne). Since the Baja side of Mexico is new for us we are making lots of new cruising friends and meeting them in different anchorages – lots of fun!

Yesterday we spent the day running errands and grocery shopping with Rick and Maria (s/v Windward Passage) and Alex (s/v AlexAnne), and we kept our rental car one more day and found the local flea market with help from Kim and Jeff (s/v Damiana) – lots of farm fresh veggies. We are on the final lesson in Andy Stanley’s series “Right in the Eye” – this week’s question was “What would you do if you were confident God was with you? In you? For you?”
Romans 8:31 If God is for us, who can be against us?
