CAVU after a.m. clouds, temp 70, wind light/variable
Leaving Alert Bay, we enjoyed another absolutely smooth crossing of Blackfish Sound. To make it even better, the sun actually appeared. Our destination was Waddington Bay, another hurricane hole. We can tell that it is getting on toward high season. We shared Waddington with at least ten other boats. Did someone suggest that you come to the Broughtons to "get away from the crowds." Waddington is a nice spot from a protection standpoint. It was a disappointment in terms of fishing and crabbing. We had a hard time just catching some crab bait and, when we did, the crab pots remained empty. Not that we really needed any additional crab. We had a "crab cracking bee" in Night Music's cockpit and ended up with 3 or 4 pounds of crab meat. At market prices, that would be somewhere in the neighborhood of $70 worth.
