Another day cruising down the intercoastal waterway, nice weather and lots of protection from the wind. We crossed a large lake today, and once again, it reinforced looking at your charts, lookin at buoys, and keeping good watch is paramount out here. Yesterday we were 3 miles from shore, in a passage, and our water depth was 12 feet. Stray from the pass, and it goes to 1 foot real quick. Today, in the lake, even following the buoys, we churned mud a few times. With negative tides right now;meaning less than normal amount of depth; any boat larger than us would be aground. In the picture you can see that we are 2 miles from shore on each side, and have 4 feet of water under the bottom of the boat. A couple of times it said zero, which is when we started churning mud!!!
The afternoon sun is getting real hot, and I actually had to throw a shirt over my legs as they were cooking on the bridge. Got to love it, we were complaining of the cold last week. The 77 on the display is water temperature
